Our fees

At Unburden Psychology, we believe in making quality care accessible. Our rates are at least 15% lower than industry recommended rates. To see just how affordable our services are, please check our detailed fee table below.

You don't need a Doctor's referral

You may self-refer to a psychologist if you do not wish to see your GP or have a Mental Health Care Plan. In such cases, the full fee applies (see table below). You may be able to claim some of the cost through your health insurance, depending on your coverage.

Medicare rebates

You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate depending on your doctor’s (GP’s) review - list of conditions covered by Medicare. To access a Medicare rebate, you’ll need a ‘Mental Health Care Plan’ and a GP referral.

 

Medicare offers a maximum of 10 rebated sessions within a calendar year. See the table below for out-of-pocket expenses. With psychology, the rebate is not automatic, so you’ll need to cover the full fee and Medicare will reimburse you the rebate within 2 business days.

Workcover

If you have a workcover claim, please check with your case manager regarding whether you are entitled to psychology sessions, and how many have been approved. You’ll need to provide us with (1) your workcover claim number, (2) how many approved sessions, and (3) contact details for your case manager.

SelfRefer Program

You are eligible for 6 fully funded sessions within a financial year with select members of our team, subject to their availability.

SelRefer includes:

  • Queensland Police Service

  • State Emergency Service (SES)

  • Marine Rescue Queensland (MRQ), previously Coast Guard and Volunteer Marine Rescue

Fees

The industry recommended rate (from the Australian Psychological Society) for a 50 minute session is $311. Our therapy sessions are offered at a reduced rate as per the table below.
